In February 2018 Nick started his journey to spread a message of global unity and love. Since then he’s been running barefoot from South Africa to Tunisia, while bonding and connecting with people he meets. During the year people from all over the world have come to run and cycle with him, and each person raised money for a different charity:

“I arrived in Africa on December 26th, 2017. My “plan” was to spend some time in Kenya and then go to South Africa and on February 13, 2018, start running a marathon a day, barefoot, through 23 countries in Africa, to promote love and unity and inspire people to love themselves and each other and get involved in creating positive change in our world. I was trying to organize a person from every country in the world to join me. They would come and run, cycle or walk and raise money for a charity of their choice. I was trying to raise money to have a 2 person support team and a media team. I was trying to get artists, musicians and theater performers etc to all come join and they could stop off in different places and share their talents with the local communities and do performances and workshops etc.

I was trying to invite celebrities from all over the world to join so all of us together could show the world that we are one human race and our shared humanity and love is what binds us together and keeps us moving forward as a collective family. Even though the media is attempting to portray that we are doomed. This is what I was trying to organize. I had some beautiful beautiful friends and strangers helping me out and I can’t thank them enough for all their support and love.

I ended up starting on Feb 14, 2018 with $300 and no support team, no media team, a couple of beautiful sponsors, a beautiful South African man for the first day and a beautiful Colombian/French woman for the first 2 days, and a heart and mind full of anticipation, fear, excitement, expectation, love and trust. The plan didn’t go to plan.

After day 2 I couldn’t run my 2nd marathon as I injured my ankle and instantly had to deal with the “shame” and expectation I had put on myself. I thought I had to be Superman, Jesus and Buddha, all at the same time. Turns out I didn’t need to be. I just needed to be me. It took me many many many months to stop beating myself up and judging myself for not running those marathons. If I had?”

“Yesterday I visited the most northern tip of Africa in Ras Angela, Tunisia. 547 days ago I arrived in Africa. 465 days ago I started my “running” a marathon a day for a year. On day 2 after injuring my ankle I stopped trying to run a marathon a day and decided to just let it all happen, and run however much I ran, and focus on love and unity more. Love for myself and for all humans everywhere. This journey was for me. I did it because it felt right and still does. It has taught me to practice what I preach more than I can explain right now. It has shown me that our world is not doomed and that we can all work hand in hand together and create a brighter future for the generations to come and to co-create with nature to achieve this. We are all still learning. I am still learning. You are still learning. We are apart of nature and nature has been evolving for billions of years before we got here. We are evolving. I love you all. Africa I love you and thank you.”

“Learning to love yourself is the biggest and we’re going to be doing that until the day we die so we’re all unfinished works. But believing in yourself is one of the biggest things in this life. And I had many people or a number of people help me along my journey but most of that comes within you and stems from within you, so have to be very careful of what your thoughts are because they can dictate your reality.

Just be nice to yourself if you don’t achieve this grand master plan that you’ve had, it doesn’t matter. It’s all meant to be happening. If you can find the positives out of any situation you get yourself into, life becomes really really incredible.”
